2AB demonstrates support for CGI's Goverance Based Access Control (GBAC) Features.
Birmingham – August 30, 2005 CGI (www.cgi.com) has released a whitepaper,
"Governance-Based Access Control: Enabling improved information sharing that meets compliance requirements," introducing a new model for access control.
This model, called Governance-Based Access Control (GBAC), is focused on the classification of information assets for the purpose of information sharing in an environment where:
• Many organizations may require access to information
• Information may be accessed by, or shared with, external users
• Everyone may be subject to compliance with multiple authorities and jurisdictions
In a previous whitepaper, "Using jLock's Java Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS) for Application-Level Security," we described a systematic approach to using JAAS to manage the complexity associated with software access management. We explained the JAAS service-oriented architecture (SOA), which maintains a clean separation of concerns between application functionality and access management, and discussed the types of JAAS features that a scalable JAAS implementation should support.
2AB has released a demonstration CD and two new whitepapers that demonstrate how jLock can be used for
Governance Based Access Control using the scenarios in the CGI whitepapers. The papers are:
"Using jLock's Java Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS) for Governance-Based Access Control (GBAC)"
"Using OMG's Resource Access Decision (RAD) Facility Model for Governance-Based Access Control (GBAC)"

Birmingham – October 29, 2004 2AB releases orb2
for Java version 4.1 -
the Trusted CORBA® object request broker - with enhanced security features. orb2 supports
the Common Secure Interoperability Version 2 (CSIv2) protocol. While most orb2 support the

Client Authentication Layer which enables interoperabilty for GSSUP authenticators and Identity Tokens.
In addition to support for CSv2 Client Authentication, version 4.1 now allows customers to replace
2AB's CSIv2 authenticator and Identity Manager with a 3rd party authenticator for maximum flexibility.
orb2 also fully supports replaceable security providers at the protocol layer (SSL/TLS)
and enhances the CSIv2 specification by offering auditing capabilities not a part of the specification
Companies who need to restrict access to CORBA
operations with role-based policy and/or API's to support Application-Level security requirements,
can complete their Trusted CORBA® infrastructure with orbLock - a member of the iLock Security Services product suite.

Birmingham, AL— September 3, 2002 2AB, provider of
Trusted Solutions for Distributed Business announces availability of
iLockTM Security Services version 4.0 for Java, CORBA and Web Services
environments. iLock Security Services is a mature access control and
policy management technology. It includes user management supporting
groups and roles, role-based access control, entitlements and
multi-rule time-based access policies. The new release expands the
product capabilities to include consistent user and policy management
across diverse infrastructure technologies (such as Web Services, J2EE
and CORBA).
The release introduces jLockTM for native Java and J2EE
environments and webLockTM for Web and Web Services. orbLockTM, a
security service for CORBA environments has been enhanced to include
CSIv2 – the standard for secure interoperability between J2EE and
CORBA. Also available with this release is iLock Enterprise, an
enterprise access management product that leverages industry standards
for secure interoperability of Java, CORBA and Web Services under a
shared security policy and management domain.
The lack of auditable access control is a serious threat for
enterprises that face customer and consumer demand to expose services
on the web while meeting legislated privacy and confidentiality
requirements. “Today, it is almost impossible to manage consistent
auditable access control policy across an enterprise. This is a serious
risk and the administrative cost of protecting information is
staggering. We are not satisfied with making it possible – our goal is
to make it easy.” stated Carol Burt, 2AB Chief Executive Officer.
iLock Security Services version 4.0 BETA has been released to
iLock 3.2 customers and qualified development partners. General
availability of iLock Enterprise, jLock, and orbLock 4.0 is scheduled
for October 2002 on a variety of operating platforms. See http://www.2ab.com/dev_part.htm
for information on joining the development partner program. Qualified
applications will be eligible to defer significant licensing costs
until the iLock secured solution is ready for production.

Release provides foundation of Integration Platform for
Trusted Solutions
Birmingham, AL— January 8, 2002 2AB, provider of the
Integration Platform for Trusted Solutions announced today the general
availability of orb2 for JAVA release 2.2. 2AB’s orb2 offers an
integration platform for developing and managing distributed
applications that are open, secure, flexible and interoperable. The
orb2 products deliver industry-standard CORBA®/IIOP as the
fundamental technology behind 2AB’s trusted integration platform. 2AB
has enhanced their implementation of the portable object adapter (POA)
architecture to provide support for recently standardized CORBA®
features such as portable interceptors (PI) and to improve footprint
and performance characteristics. The CORBA® architecture realized
in 2AB’s robust, multi-threaded implementation enables orb2 to reliably
scale to support billions of objects. Bundled with this release are two
location services – the orb2 Trading and an OMG Naming Service. Feature
enhancements also include new graphical administration tools that
enhance visibility and ease management of distributed solutions.
"CORBA is pervasive, but hardly noticed --- like the air we
breathe. Together with other OMG standards, it embodies the
architectural approach necessary for building secure, robust
distributed systems that scale and perform. It is excellent news that
2AB has adopted the mature and well respected CORBA product previously
known as DAIS, and is enhancing it as the foundation of a
standards-based security infrastructure," commented Tom Welsh, a
software analyst and consultant who follows OMG technologies.
“We are delivering on the promises we made to our customers to
continuously improve our CORBA® products while laying the
cornerstone of our security infrastructure strategy – this release of
orb2 provides the essential features necessary for 2AB to provide
secure, reliable, scalable, trusted infrastructure for distributed
solutions,” stated Mitchel Sanders, 2AB Chief Technology Officer. Our
goal is to provide tools that make it easy to develop and administer
secure business solutions; with orb2, orbLock and iLock we now have all
the pieces of the puzzle.”
orb2 is also available for C, C++ and Eiffel, allowing business
functionality within existing applications, and written in other
programming languages, to be leveraged in systems integrations and
e-business web environments. The diversity of platform support offered
by orb2 is unparalleled including multiple versions of Windows, UNIX,
OpenVMS and VOS with OS/390 and z/OS support planned for 2002.
